Now, and for the record, this is not a flagship smartphone by Nokia. It in fact is a mid-ranger. But a very good and impressive one for that matter. I have to say there really is much going on for the Nokia 6.1 Plus X6 as you will find out in a moment. Below is an in-depth analysis of it.
Design and build
Looking at it first time, and not until you see NOKIA branding on the bottom bezel you will think this s an iPhone X. Mainly because of that notched screen it has, like the one you see on the iPhone X’s middle top (front part). This could be the reason why Nokia decided to go with X for this one. Just maybe. That notched part has a selfie camera and sensor as well. The back has Nokia’s typical design with vertical placement of the dual camera + LED flash and fingerprint scanner just below it.
It measures 147.2 x 71 x 8 mm and weighs about 153 grams. It’s front and back panels are made of glass while the frames are all aluminium. No plastic whatsoever. Again I’ll say, this is one very good looking and appealing to the eye smartphone.
Display and camera
Enough about the looks of the Nokia 6.1 Plus X6. We look more into what else it has to offer, and we begin with its display. It’s large estate 5.8 inches display panel is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen of 84.0 cm2 (~80.3% screen-to-body ratio) and 1080 x 2280 pixels, 19:9 ratio (~435 ppi density) resolution. It is mostly two things, sharp and bright. Sharp especially indoors and bright outdoors. Yes, and with great viewing angles as well on the Nokia X6. Impressive display it has in mu opinion, and I’m almosy sure most people will think of it this way too.
We get three cameras here. I’ll talk about the primary shooter first which is a Dual: 16 MP (f/2.0, 1.0µm, giro-EIS) + 5 MP (f/2.2, 1.2µm), phase detection autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash. It does have features such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. Video recording kicks in at 1080p@30fps which is descent although we could have wished for 4K video recording. The other is the 16 MP (f/2.0, 1.0µm) selfie shooter. A super one I must note. And this one selfie lovers will surely fall in love with as soon as they snap their first pic.
Performance and memory
It comes running on Android 8.1 (Oreo with a Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636 chipset, an Octa-core 1.8 GHz Kryo 260 CPU and an Adreno 509 GPU.
There are three versions of the Nokia 6.1 Plus X6 with respect to memory and RAM. 64 GB, 4/6 GB RAM or 32 GB, 4 GB RAM. The internal memory of any of the three can be expanded using an sd card up to 256 GB.
It has a Non-removable Li-Ion 3060 mAh battery. We love that it has support for Fast battery charging (Quick Charge 3.0). This is capable enough to last a whole day of mixed usage, and sometimes even extreme usage.
