PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 6.02: bugfixes and performance improvements

Sony has released a new update for PlayStation 4 that brings the system version to 6.02 . The update’s changelog, at present, does not provide any specific details regarding the patch but it cites the classic improvements in stability and performance .

The patch weighs in at 447.4 MB, and it’s a mandatory download. Sony states the update “improves system performance,” but it’s possible this patch is the one that fixes a recent issue that caused many PS4s to enter a crash loop.

That bug allowed malicious users to send a message containing special characters that would crash your PS4. Sony has since stated the issue has been fixed, and advised anyone still affected to delete the malicious message via the PSN app.
